[and now for the shew]
I am extremely excited to announce that I have landed my first paying art gig in Oklahoma! I did some murals while living in California, but since I’ve been back, I have been primarily programming as an occupation. I have a passion for art and comics and amazingly I will be working with both! I approached the owners of Speeding Bullet Comics in Norman about redoing the panels/doors that cover their back issue bins. They were very interested. Later in the evening I stopped back by with samples of my work. Annette (owner) was very excited about getting the panels replaced. We worked out a deal for the panels. In addition we discussed making it an event. Instead of putting up the new panels one at a time, we would do a showing where we would put them all out at once. I would also be able to display a number of my other pieces and offer them for sale. She also offered me some wall space to place pieces for sale on a permanent basis for a percentage of sales. To say the least, I am totally stoked! I cannot wait and I am working in overdrive on my art to make an awesome impression. Ultimately I would like to have a portfolio worthy of showing to some DC editors in order to start working on books for them.
God is good and I give Him all the glory. I would not have had the nerve or the opportunity without His timing and encouragement.
[shake, rattle & roll!]
So I read some of my friends’ blogs and decided to create a blog to output my thoughts about various topics. I plan to focus on my favorite topics: theology, apologetics, programming, art and comics…yes, comics. (some of us never grow up
) Right off the bat I go off of any of these topics to say, “HOLY COW!”, we had an earthquake this morning and the epicenter was within 10 miles of my house! It was a 4.3 on the richter scale, according to the USGS site and various news outlets. It felt like an explosion rolling through the house. Prior to living in Oklahoma, I resided in California where I felt a couple of earthquakes, but none were as strong as the one I felt right here in Oklahoma. Wow, 2010 has been a crazy year. We have had a blizzard, record hail that covered the ground like snow, flooding, a tornado passed 1/4 mile from my house and now an earthquake.
